Time for some of this, now: "We hold these truths to be sacred and undeniable, that all men are created equal and independent; that from that equal creation they derive in rights inherent and inalienable, among which are the preservation of life, and liberty and the pursuit of happiness; that to secure these ends, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed; that whenever any form of government shall become destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing it's powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness. prudence, indeed, will dictate that governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes: and accordingly all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. but when a long train of abuses and usurpations, begun at a distinguished period, and pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to subject them to arbitrary power, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security."

All for injections now described by orthodox media as having no actual effect on viral transmission. https://twitter.com/Elanders_Voice/status/1441023073562644481

So what is the forced choice between bodily violation and job loss supposed to be justified by?

All of this reminds me of the "burn her anyway" mentality in Monty Python's Holy Grail.

The justification for overt totalitarianism is simply an unwitting love for totalitarianism that swept in on the coattails of global panic. It's just trying to bust out of the closet and freely flaunt itself, like all the paraded bigotry against dissenters which has brought such joy and fulfilment to most "progressives" over the last twenty months.

My understanding is that militarisation of police is not a new development in Australia. It's been gradually happening here since 9/11, thanks to the bogus "war on terror".

So, they are "bad people" because they don't believe the MSM narrative? And decided for themselves that they don't want to risk the vaccine adverse events when they see the recovery rate is 99.5%? Is our world gone insane?

I am glad that the anti-WallStreetOccupiers are seeing police brutality in full force and now understand what we OWS-ers had to contend with.

Hopefully, the end result is that we as a world demand the de-militarization of our police forces. Where did they get the military equipment overnight? Why are the people on the police force simply saying "I won't shoot my fellow citizen who is peacefully protesting!" ????

The insanity of all of it.

And if the people who have taken the vaccine would quit saying "Get vaxxed to protect us all." The idiocy of that statement. If you are vaxxed, then why should an unvaxxed person pose any threat to you whatsoever? If you believe they are a danger, the only danger would be to themselves. Critical thinking required, apparently.

I'm glad to see you covering the COVID related dystopia, though I wish you wouldn't play into the mainstream narrative:

"But Caitlin!" you may object. "Those people they're firing on are Bad People! They're right-wingers and anti-vaxxers! And they're protesting without permission!"

Both labels are part of the propaganda "right-wingers" and "anti-vaxxers." Many of us are neither. You should know better.

That said, I admire your continued coverage of Julian Assange's persecution, your coverage on wars and empire, and what seems to be your increased interest in the "anti-COVID dystopia"

This exact same WTF moment happened here in the States at the Occupy protests, when Andy Griffith turned into Darth Vader. Cops spraying the faces of peaceful protestors with chemicals. Armored vehicles and other military surplus equipment unleashed against the citizenry. The rogue state of Israel training our police -- and it shows.

The only way out of this mess I can see is a general strike. The only power we have is numbers. No one is going to give us freedom and justice; we need to demand it. That's the only way it's ever happened.

Separate out the two issues. You can criticise the police response while supporting the Victorian government's health measures. The protesters appeared to have a diversity of views and I am not sure lockdowns and vaccine passports cover all their views. Vaccine passports have not received much attention in Melbourne because we don't have them. There may be more of a discussion about them in coming months. The trigger for the protests seems to be the vaccine mandate for construction workers. The vaccine mandate has already been applied to health workers without causing issues. Reports from here and overseas indicate that health workers welcome the mandating of vaccines as it makes their job easier. Mandatory vaccination of children who use childcare has been in place in Australia for years.

A responsible approach is to criticise inappropriate police conduct without giving oxygen to the views of the protesters. Police violence is not new to Melbourne. The police baton-charged protesters during Bloody Monday" at the Richmond Secondary College in 1994. Police also baton-charged protesters at the APEC Summit meeting of the World Economic Forum, held in Melbourne in September 2000. The Victorian Ombudsman investigated and found that police had used overhead baton blows, kicking and unauthorised holds.

I do not agree with the extreme police tactics. And yes they will not be rolled back after the pandemic. I also understand why Victoria is trying to get a hold of covid before it becomes endemic, and the far righters who have hijacked the demonstrations are trying to ensure Covid becomes endemic. These are two separate issues.
