Caitlin refers to "oligarchic imperialism," not to "American imperialism." This is an important distinction. As we are learning, the Empire is not controlled by US voters or even US politicians. It's controlled a class of super wealthy people who control and have vested interests in multinational mega-corporations. None of them feel any allegiance to the country(ies) where they hold formal citizenship. I do have a minor criticism of the following statement, "If you were a Jew living in the Holy Roman Empire, for example, the door would be closed to you from ever holding a position of power or influence over the mainstream population."
