Bolton, the very epitome of all that is wrong with the USA. Add to that arrogant fool the likes of Pompeo, (possible the worst), the values of Albright, and topping off a list that could be 200 would be H Clinton still in there planning her dirty deeds for 2004. Too many Neocons to count, Israeli agents posing as US citizens in AIPAC and the various lobbying groups, mostly funded by Israel.

What a grand, respected country it could be again if it reverted to those values enshrined so many years ago by much wiser men than you could ever find on any street in America today. Instead we tolerate liars, cheats and warmongers, economic criminals by the score, military industrialists making a killing based on current US warlike policies and the need by all politicians for the USA to be seen to rule the world. An arrogant country, but not a nation as we know it. A geographical location, with no uniform policies for all its citizens, half of whom seem to have lost interest in the future.

Finally as the grandmasters of the US downfall, we have apartheid Israel, using the feeble UN to run rampant over Palestine, storing up an arsenal of 400+ nuclear weapons with American assistance and dictating every day the policies accepted to them in the Congress of these same United States.

Now if that does not contain all the ingredients in a recipe for further continuing disaster, what does?

Caitlin--You were highly praised yesterday by Chris Martenson of Peak Prosperity. You also turned up in a list of influential writers by Mark Crispin Miller. Finally, you beat Matt Taibbi by a day with your Political False Dichotomies piece. He wrote a New Kremlinology piece that made the same stark observation you did: "media companies and Internet platforms are agreeing to bluntly disallow criticism or mockery of American foreign policy on those grounds alone." You said it so much more succinctly! He also featured your Ukraine flag-draped tweet. You rock!

The Propaganda Machine is very powerful. However, CJ Hopkins made a good point about how the current GloboCap regime depends on maintaining the appearance of not being a fascist dictatorship. This is largely true. If the governments start using outright force, they’re essentially ripping off the mask. If they do that, they’re exposing themselves to a completely different and non-linear situation where their formulas and “spells” essentially stop working.

The problem for the oligarchy, GloboCap, the Anglo-American establishment (whatever we want to call it), is that they can only maintain the facade for so long as the physical economic conditions and social fabric of society unwinds, as it necessarily must, given the system is based on creating bubbles and looting the real economy to keep the bubble game going. So there is a boundary condition.

And this is where the bad guys run into some serious problems, in my opinion. Their system depends on the behavioural science and social psychology-augmented slogans and narratives maintaining their magic, and that people don’t become smart enough to challenge the narrative. Unfortunately for them, as with the internet where they just never thought people would be creative enough to create their own podcasts and media outlets to replace the “traditional” media models, so they in a sense believe in their own lies when it comes to the power of behavioural science and social psychology. That’s not to say they actually believe the lies they create, but they believe in the power of the formulas and models they use for behaviour change. They really believe this stuff can get them over the finish line. However, the reality is they’re not able to preserve the material conditions and bread and circus culture necessary to keep people distracted.

And this is where the disenchantment comes in. People become increasingly disgusted with the way things are, the emptiness that just can’t be filled because of the degenerate and destructive nature of the system. So like Dante in his Comedy, I think the best model is to show people how ugly, how disgusting, how depraved the system actually is, such that at a certain point, the magic suddenly disappears—the illusions dissolve. People are disenchanted. And then, and only then, can we start to talk about the uphill climb to Purgatory, and finally, the longer road to Paradise. But people have to be shown hell before they can take getting to paradise seriously, metaphorically speaking.

The magicians believe their formulas and incantations can maintain the spell forever, or at least get them to the finish line, at which point they believe they’ll have total technocratic control. This religious belief in their own “magic” may very well be their downfall.

People may be smarter than what misanthropic “blue blood” oligarchs and the upper management of their Borg Cube suspect.

I wonder if old Genocide Walrus has his eyes set on the Presidency. Imagine a competent meglomaniac in charge instead of a bumbling fool or a narcissist.

I used the Mint Press link you provided to read Alan McLeod's Mint Press Piece. Good reporting --- but I must say that I disagree with Mr. McLeod on one point. He writes: "The problem is not that these individuals are incompetant (sic). The problem is that having so many former CIA employees . . . and all with essentially no public oversight." Not incompetent? These people are careerist moral cowards, and that cowardice makes them incompetent to advise me to tie my shoelace, much less to tell me what I should believe about my criminal federal agencies.

That's what I've been observing over a decade or so in the US - regular people stopped being bothered with any sort of morality or honesty or any such trifle matter. Everything is expendable in favor of short term benefits. Whoever provides them - govt, party, etc. - it's all good if they personally can be left alone and be able to dine out a few times a week.

Apparently it's a trend all over the world. In Ukraine folks didn't even need that much. They were satisfied with being told they're eventually to join EU and NATO.

If we take it as a progression, or rather regression, then there's surely something awaiting ahead. Apart from the war, that is. That's already raging.

For myself too much of what you write about either is known or should be known. What is important to discover more about is our MSM journalistic class joining the corrupt state in promoting their failures as successes. Who are these people willing to lie and deceive citizens while claiming absolute certainty in their convictions even though proven wrong time and time again? Why isn't anyone investigating the journalists who for the past 5 years have accelerated their brazen lying and never admitting they got anything wrong? Yes Bolton is a war monger and isn't that to be expected. What I don't understand is people's shock when a war monger promotes a new war. It's almost like all the MSM journalists went to the WEF youth camp instead of Boy/Girl Scout camps. Our self righteous media class has joined the ranks of KAOS and Siegfried/Klaus is their fearless leader.

****Bolton's sole admission to coup plotting runs counter to his comments about the US government's failed attempt to oust President Nicolas Maduro while he was facilitating that bizarre operation under the Trump administration, telling reporters in 2019 that the empire's Venezuela shenanigans were "clearly not a coup."****

Priceless. Bolton is so smart, he's dumb. So here we have it. Trump, like all his predecessors in the Oval Office, was running coups except unlike many of his predecessors, Trump and his flunkies sucked at it, witness Venezuela.

Thankfully, Trump and his flunkies also sucked at the coup they ran domestically on January 6th. Bolton wasn't privy to that coup so naturally he denies it was a coup because they didn't consult him, but otherwise he provides the validation it was a coup because Trump like his predecessors loves coups except Trump sucks at them, hence the failure of January 6th.

Riddle me this, audience. What would have transpired had Mike Pence been hung and Nancy Pelosi and a number of members of Congress executed thus halting the certification of the election results and Trump remaining in power? Who steps in and up to stop him and his flunkies? I ask, because if this goes unchecked, and it appears that's going to be the case because these hearings are merely political grandstanding, it will happen again and next time it will be successful as insane as it may seem.

The genocide walrus spoke no more than the truth (albeit insufferably) when he boasted about his murderous coups. Facebook, Instagram, Meta, Twatter (etc) staffing ministry of truth departments with empire-serving spooks may even be better than hiring more PMC placeholders who pretend they care about free speech while scrambling to find a bus to throw you under in the hope it'll show the deep state how loyal they are.

I guess brazenly admitting they fund foreign coups - as they openly fold social media, surveillance, policing and tech into the carceral state they're building at home - shows the war machine oligarchy is more confident in its power than ever. But it's also drawing the battle lines in a way more and more regular citizens can see and be mobilized to fight against. Maybe.

Don't want nuclear holocaust? Don't want to be forced to toil your whole life to enrich frivolous sociopaths who despise you? Don't want to consent to oligarchs and their profit games that involve slaughtering millions of innocent humans in contests over who gets to burn our children's future on the bonfire of their vanities?

At least it's becoming clear who's doing the bad stuff, who and what our passivity has been enabling, and who needs to be stopped... before we're all permanently fu***d.

Bolton, Blinken, Hillary Clinton, Bezos, Musk, Pelosi, Biden, Sullivan, Nuland, Kagan, Buttigieg-Harris, Zuckerberg, Gates, Austin, Brennan, Sanders, AOC, MTG...

Yes, the problem with clarity is the list of ARS HOLES is long and powerful. The ruling class is state IV metastasized. Denial won't help our kids and grandkids. The psychopath 'elites' won't ever see the light. The system exists to serve the most cruelly rapacious.

Clarity is better than confusion. But clarity is only a starting point. What are 'the people' going to do to save the world?

Anyone? Bueller... Bueller? Anyone?

p.s. Trump is incidental. There is no God. When you die, it's over for you. What were your components get recycled by the universe. Nothing is wasted and nothing's lost in the recycling except for everything you ever thought, cared about or did. Jews aren't controlling the weather. Patriotism is inane. They're not lizards in human form. Epstein wasn't an anomaly. The Holocaust happened - and at the scale they taught you in school; or worse.

p.p.s. if you think society faces existential threats, believe you know better but, instead of action, you habitually write long comments (like these replies to Caitlin Johnstone's substack) you're either 1) writing self-indulgent outmoded crap or 2) you're a lazy hypocrite unwilling to risk a mote of your own privilege, or 3) you're a feckless echo of somebody else's originally expression, the online equivalent of a barfly bore. None of these are good!

p.p.p.s. 2 🤣

I mean, nothing John Bolton said in the interview was wrong. He didn't need to lie to Tapper, mainly because he wouldn't be effectively challenged in any way by Tapper. It was a masterclass in normalizing how despicable the American Empire can be so the day WHEN the US does coup its own democratically elected leftist government, it'll be seen as Tuesday morning.
