The Guardian went from being to the go-to for whistleblowers to an unprincipled and unabashed tool of the neocon plague. Following the raid on their offices and the editorial removal of Alan Rusbridger, a man with conscience and integrity, replacements like Jonathan Friedland and other supine editors changed the papers ethos dramatically. Single - issue neocon fanaticism seem to have taken over.

Twelve years later the Guardian has an attack of conscience? 🤢🤮. ... “Please God, make me good, but not just yet.” How many times have they said that over the last dozen years?

Yes, but then serial fabulist Luke Harding and that Simon Tisdall snot would have to get real jobs, and that simply just won't do.

Conservative or even flat-out right-wing media always show they true colours. Pieces of garbage like the guardian today are cynical servants of the same masters, but posing as "progressive". I stopped reading this rag when they hysterically led the smearing campaign against Jeremy Corbyn and his supporters. It was nauseating. I would be sorry for the honest journalists who might still work there, but I won't be sorry at all when the guardian deservedly folds.

Where the hell was Australia all these years? They did nothing to protect the citizen they should have been the most proud of, along with the principle of honesty, free speech and humanity he stood for, and we all claim as the hallmark of Western society. Where were the newspapers, many of whom used his facts and research, the churches and religious leaders who claim to be apolitical

defenders of the good? They had better work overtime to free and rehabilitate Assange while they still can: their shred of credibility, and that of the West, depends on it.

This mewling letter, even if accompanied by a grovelling apology and complete retraction would never be enough. The Guardian should be dismantled, its editors tried for treason, along with 600 British MPs all the Civil Service Mandarins, MI6, MI5 and the entire chiefs of staff of the Armed Forces of the UK, all should be stripped naked tied behind ox carts and thrashed within an inch of their lives. Just that and when Boris Johnson gives me the satisfaction in a duel of pistols on Hampstead Heath will my ire be partially sated.

Like the NYTimes, I've already stopped reading this rag. Screw 'em. Easy enough.

And it all started by made up accusations by Swedish intelligence service, that “neutral” country that fooled and confused so many of us who believed in its truly independent. Then Navalny and North Stream 1&2 killed any last molecule of doubt that they ware truly neutral. At least not since assassination of Palme.

Swedish intelligence services have been seemingly an extended arm of its NATO counterparts and not really serving its people’s interests, as we saw in recent months with the Swedish NATO application.

They sold their souls for Five Eyes. Sacrificing freedom and integrity for security. Franklin said they deserve neither.

But for us pedants the context for him was quite different. But it remains a very useful quote in principle and it’s surely how the Antipodes sold out.

Thank you, Caitlin. Where were these newspapers over the last years?? Where was their indignation? The hypocrisy of these newspapers who gained so much when they reported

Wikileak's scoops, and then turned around and discarded, demeaned or ignored Assange as he languished in the embassy and now in a high-security prison..is horrific. I boycotted the Guardian the moment their support for Assange slipped towards slander and insinuation. Even Charlie Hebdo (that martyred free speech journal) never mentioned Assange in recent years, except to further smear or disparage him. I no longer subscribe. And now...NOW? they're finally suggesting the US back off?????

Our immediate thought, in my household, was that Assange must be near death; that only that could've provoked their meager and criminally tardy expression of dismay.

I would like to think these and other bogus "news outlets" would be given the same treatment Julian has gotten, for the infinite river of lies they publish daily. And I continue to "misunderstand" why these publishers, editors, and writers aren't in Belmarsh for using Julian's work.

P.S. I thank those who appreciated sacredmockingbird.com, a page I posted regarding JA. It's still worth a look, imho.

The systems that govern over our lives have all been corrupted by people who do not have our best interests in mind. Society has lost trust in nearly all systems: government, voting, police, schooling, medicine, academia, science and even language (definitions).

But there is hope. This lack of trust can be restored. First we need to be talking about solutions, basic ones that we should mostly all agree on. This starts with transparency, decentralization, rationality, and this:

Agree. The false info on Assange is disgusting. Obama led the charge and Trump could have ended it. Dang. This killed truthful journalism regarding war. The USA-CIA military lies needed to be faced. Like the men in white helmets, we are not saints. Maybe if we would have faced the truth then, we would not have pushed in Ukraine and Georgia, never mind 7 other nations to join NATO. The pact settled after the USSR fall was never kept by us! Russia has a right to defend its territory, just as we have the right to stop invasions in Cuba and Mexico. The neocons and especially the Biden group are crazy and this proxy war was foolish. Like the strategy in Afghanistan, it will go down as costing many innocent lives and a complete failure of moral leadership. The neocons need to stop their exploits and disasters. Their democracy was not democracy, but bullying. Get out of toppling and meddling in other borders and concentrate on keeping true to your word and our border. You have made america a lie. Stop.
