Here's a good comparison to expand consciousness about the destructiveness of US militarism. A B-52 bomber consumes 3,300 U.S. gallons of fuel per hour -- with the requisite amount of CO2 emissions. I've estimated that I fill my car's 12-gal.gas tank around every 2 weeks (yeah, I drive as little as possible). Even saying 15 gal/2 weeks as a liberal estimate, that's around 400 gal/yr. Or, EIGHT YEARS to consume as much fossil fuel as the B-52 does in ONE HOUR. And yeah, jet fuel vs auto fuel, but that's irrelevant to the planet which sees emissions from combustion of either fuel. So when the US govt. propagandizes you about its interest in combating climate change, this makes it clear exactly the size and weight of propaganda (merda) it would like you to swallow.

There's a line in the offbeat WWII film Castle Keep that perfectly highlights the subjectivity of life. A soldier, on getting fatally shot, says, "I always knew the war would never end."

So that's where my perspective comes in to trip me up; I want to see all this collective crap end in my lifetime. I realize this is ego, but sometimes when the monkey's driving the car all I can do from the back seat is marvel that he somehow hasn't actually crashed yet.

This is a reason why I dislike articles like: "Despite XYZ sign of catastrophic climate change, we are doing nothing".

That always sounds as if, being aware of climate breakdown, any single person now can snap their fingers and stop it and they don't.
